This is fairly interesting. Take what you want. They both are on the top 10 list of deadlist cars some random site put together.

Is it just me or are these 2 cars sports cars that often get abused by RICERS? (I don't mean ricer [visual] I mean RICER [radically immature car something something]) It doesn't really surprise me.

Then again... maybe I'm being too stereotypical... (bad) luck of the draw this time?

In other news the Nissan Titan is the deadliest truck however you get it. Wait. People actually drive those?

I feel like it's been years since I've actually seen a Tiburon on the roads. They all kinda disappeared.

I think they all disappeared into poles from my experience seeing them.

Correlation does not imply causation...

IOW, there might be nothing wrong with the products. The type of owner and their behavior may be the cause...

i.e. The price of Tea in China has been on the rise along with the increase in gun ownership in the USA.

A proportional relationship could be drawn based upon this data, but that only shows correlation of the data. A statistical ANOVA study would be required to establish the most likely causes of the rising price of tea in China.

Because they died and took their drivers out.

I think this speaks more about these car's drivers.

For one thing, that generation of the Z didn't have standard side-impact airbags, which almost every competitor had by that time.

They're cheap sport looking cars. Who do you think buys them? That is like saying the civic is prone to suspension failure. Well - no, due to the owner's (and modifications they make) shit stops working. Or in the article's case, deadly.

My brother-in-law still drives one. It does well by him, though it did have the bizarre quirk of having zero tolerance next to the rear wheels - running low on air caused the bracket for the rear brake flex line to eat through the sidewall. WAT

The Tiburon was a boy-racer special that was significantly faster than contempotary cars at its price point. It was also a low-slung, 2-door Elantra with a V6 that made 200/200 hp/tq a decade ago. Think, Korean Ford Probe. It was quick, cheap, and purchased by guys in their early 20s whose experience couldn't match their need for speed.
The 350z was similar even though it was slightly more expensive. It could be had, new, for $25,000 or so and that's a pretty significant upgrade from the Sentras and 200SXs that were traded in for them. Add that to the fact that so many drivers were raised on the numb, understeering handling of FWD family sedans and you have a recipe for high speed crashes.

I agree it's more of the habits of the drivers. I was kind of hoping people would catch that.

I feel safe in my Z.. except when there is a Tiburon near me. Every single Tiburon I come across in my Z does ricer fly bys to me, over and over, and then turns off, while I just drive normal.

My 350Z is my easy car to drive.. unless there's snow, but otherwise, my other car is rear engine..and much like the Z, has no traction control..but it also lacks ABS, where My Z has ABS, lol

Those blind spots though.... especially when a passenger decides they're going to slide the seat all the way back so their head/the headrest blocks the tiny rear window on that side.
